PUBLICATION GUIDELINES
Animal Science Reporter is an international journal devoted to global promotion of Animal Science research and development. It is a quarterly publication, with issues in January, April, July and October. The journal is accredited by Indian Science Abstracts (ISA) and Commonwealth Agricultural Bureaux International (CAB Abstracts), Wallingford, UK. Full texts of the papers are accessible on line from CAB Abstracts data base at www.cabi.org . Authors are requested to send research papers (basic, applied and clinical) in all branches of animal sciences (Veterinary, Dairy and Poultry) as per the guidelines given below.
1. INSTRUCTION TO AUTHORS
The authors are requested to follow the publication guidelines given below.
1.1 Preparation of Manuscript
1.1.1. The paper should be prepared under Microsoft office word 2007 software with normal page layout (Margins: Top-1”, Bottom-1”, Left–1” and Right-1”) in portrait orientation. The letters should be in regular Times New Roman Font of 12 size. The title of the paper and the sub-heads should be in bold upper case of 12 size. The length of the article should be limited to four pages in single space.
1.1.2. Research paper: It should contain Title, Name of the Author(s), Address, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgement (optional) and References.
1.1.3. Review paper (with prior approval): It should contain Title, Name of the Author(s), Address, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction (Highlighting the Problem), Research status (Review of literature depicting the progress in research), Grey areas (Gaps in literature), Strategic approach to the problem, Conclusion, Acknowledgement (optional) and References.
1.1.4. Clinical paper: It should contain Title, Name of the Author(s), Address, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Case History, Symptoms, Clinical observations, Laboratory examinations, Diagnosis, Differential diagnosis, Treatment, Post-treatment management, Conclusion, Acknowledgment (optional) and References.
1.1.5. The references should be cited in the form as given in CAB abstracts in alphabetical order.
Example: Misra, R.K.; Arora, C.L.; Acharya, R.M. 1980. Breed characterization of Sirohi goat. Indian Journal of Animal Sciences, 50 (9), 717-720.
1.2 Submission of Manuscript
1.2.1. Please send the papers by e-mail as attachment (animalsciencereporter@gmail.com).
1.2.2. In case, e-mail facility is not available, the paper may be sent duly loaded in a Compact Disk to the Managing Editor, as per the instruction given at Serial No. 1.
1.2.3. Authentication Certificate should be sent along with the research paper in the prescribed proforma (Please see 1.4).
1.3 Terms and Conditions
1.3.1. The Chief Editor owns the right to make editorial revision with out consent of the author(s), if needed.
1.3.2. The decision of the Chief Editor is final in matters pertaining to acceptance and publication of paper. No reason will be given, if the paper is not accepted for publication.
1.3.3. The Chief Editor is not a party to the views expressed by the author(s) in the article.
1.3.4. It is a not-for-profit, self-financing journal exclusively devoted to promotion of animal science research and development. Thus, the author(s) have to pay a nominal contribution in the form of servicing and processing charges to provide financial support to the journal, if their paper is accepted for publication. The processing fee is Rs. 300.00 (Three hundred rupees) or US $ 15.00 for the first four printed pages and Rs. 100.00 (One hundred rupees) or US $ 5.00 per printed page for the subsequent pages of the paper. The foreign authors have to pay in US Dollars only.
1.4 Authentication Certificate

2. SUBSCRIPTION
1.2.1. The annual membership subscription to the journal is Rs. 200.00 (Two hundred rupees) for members of the profession in India and US $ 20.00 (Twenty US dollars) for foreign members. The annual subscription for Institutions, Organizations, Universities, State Departments, Non-Government Organizations (NGO), Pharmaceutical Industries, Feed Processing Industries, Milk federations, Dairy Cooperatives and Corporate Sectors etc. in India is Rs. 300.00 (Three hundred rupees), and is US $ 30.00 (Thirty US dollars) for foreign Institutions and Organizations. The validity period is one calendar year (January to December).

The corporate houses can become corporate members by subscribing Rs. 10,000.00 (Ten thousand rupees)/ US $ 1000.00 (One thousand US dollars) to the journal. The membership is offered for a fixed duration of ten years. It is to be renewed there after. The journal will carry the name of the corporate members in every issue. The corporate members are eligible for 20% discount in advertisement tariff.
3. ADVERTISEMENT
Animal Science Reporter reaches the Veterinary and Animal Science Universities/ Colleges, Animal Science Research Institutes of ICAR, and State Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Departments in India. Thus, the intelligentsias of Veterinary profession i.e. Professors, Scientists, Research Scholars, Post Graduate Students and State Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Officers have access to this journal. The advertisement of your product-portfolios and R&D achievements in Animal Science Reporter will reach them. Dr. R.K. Misra, Chief Editor
Academic credentials: Dr. Misra is a Graduate (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) of the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Bhubaneswar (1968). He is Post-graduate (M.V.Sc.) in Animal genetics & Breeding from the Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar (1973) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Animal genetics & Breeding from the National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal (1984). He received specialized training on down goat production in U.S.S.R. in 1986.
Scholarships/Fellowships: Dr. Misra was the recipient of University scholarship for under graduate studies and I.V.R.I. scholarship for pursuing post graduate studies in Animal Genetics and Breeding. Dr. Misra was awarded Jr. Research Fellow grant by the Indian Council of Agricultural research to pursue post-graduate (M. V. Sc.) studies in Animal Genetics and Breeding. He stood first in merit list in the J.R.F. examination.
Career particulars : Dr. Misra was Lecturer at the Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology, Bhubaneswar for seven years (1969-75), and was engaged in teaching (Under Graduate & Post Graduate), research and extension activities of the university in Veterinary Medicine/Animal Breeding & Genetics. During this period, he brought out a study manual “A class note of Animal Breeding” for the benefit of undergraduate students of Animal Genetics and Breeding.
Dr. Misra joined the Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute, Avikanagar in the year 1975 and served as Scientist/Sr. Scientist in Sheep breeding/Goat breeding for ten years (1975-84). He was the founder researcher of the All India Coordinated Research Project on Goats for meat at Avikanagar. He was the first to explore the genetic configuration of Sirohi goats and developed a selection index for genetic improvement of the breed. He was awarded Doctor of Philosophy (Ph D) for his outstanding research work on Sirohi goats under the guidance of Dr. R.M. Acharya.
Dr. Misra was selected for the coveted post of the Project Coordinator, All India Coordinated Research Project on Goats (AICRP-Goats) at the Central Institute for Research on Goats (CIRG), Makhdoom and joined the post in the year 1984. The AICRP-Goats successively evolved high potential milk, meat and mohair genotypes under his leadership. He held this position for ten years (1984-94). He was also the Director of Central Institute for Research on Goats in 1994. He worked for a brief period (one year) as the Principal Scientist & Incharge, All India Coordinated Research Project on Sheep for mutton (Muzaffarnagari sheep) at CIRG, Makhdoom. During this period, he established the wool attributes of Muzaffarnagari sheep in collaboration with CSWRI, Avikanagar.

Dr. Misra joined as the Head, Eastern Regional Station (National Dairy Research Institute) Kalyani, Nadia (District), West Bengal in the year 1996. He was the project leader of the research project “Genetic evaluation of crossbred genotypes for milk production under subtropical climatic condition of Eastern India”. He established the most suitable genotype and its optimum exotic gene level for high milk production, and developed a breeding protocol for founding a dairy breed suitable for high milk production under the subtropical climatic condition of lower Gangetic plains region of Eastern India.
He was the Principal Investigator of the ICAR ad hoc project on Arsenic toxicity in farm animals. This project was the first to establish that livestock products (milk, meat, egg) in the arsenic affected areas contained high levels of arsenic, which could be detrimental to human health.
During this period, he established Milk quality analysis laboratory and Dairy Biotechnology laboratory at ERS. He launched the “Model Dairy Village Program” for boosting rural dairy production in West Bengal.
Research experience: Dr. Misra was the Principal Investigator of numerous research projects on sheep, goat and dairy cattle breeding. He has 122 research papers to his credit, which were published in various prestigious journals and proceedings of national and international conferences. He had presented many status/lead papers in national and international conferences on invitation from the organisers. He has also published many research bulletins, review papers, project coordinator’s reports, extension bulletins, science papers and book chapters.
Professional assignments: Dr. Misra had visited Mongolia as a member of three-person team of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (I.C.A.R.) for finalisation of the Indo-Mongolian protocol on agricultural research and education for 1988-90. The document prepared by the team was signed during the visit of the President of India to Mongolia in July 1988.
Dr. Misra was deputed by I.C.A.R. to survey the livestock resources of Nagaland and submit a report on their development. He discovered the “Thotho” breed of cattle during the survey and submitted his report to I.C.A.R. along with the breeding plan for the genetic improvement of “Thotho” cattle of Nagaland. He had prepared the cattle and buffalo breeding policies for Mizoram and West Bengal on request from the respective governments. He had prepared the “Breeding strategy for goats in India” in association with Dr. R.M. Acharya, Deputy Director General (Animal Sciences) for the I.C.A.R.
Dr. Misra was member of various committees constituted by I.C.A.R., N.A.B.A.R.D., State animal husbandry departments and Milk federations on livestock and dairy development programs. To name a few, he was member of the Board of Management of C.I.R.G.; member of the Board of Management of N.D.R.I.; member of the Academic Council of N.D.R.I.; member of the Extension Council of N.D.R.I.; member of the Extension Council of Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya (B.C.K.V.), West Bengal and member of Paschim Banga Go-Sampad Bikash Sanstha of Government of West Bengal. He discharged his duties to the utmost satisfaction of the institutions/ organisations, and contributed significantly for their development.
Editorial debut: He has compiled and edited four books on dairy science research & development, and one book on goat production. He was the editor of the Indian Society of Sheep and Goat Production and Utilization (ISSGPU), and had edited ISSGPU News Letter and the conference proceedings of the society.
Dr. Misra’s scientific career ended with his retirement on superannuation on 30th June 2006 at the age of 62, after rendering 38 years of professional service to animal science.
He is the founder editor of Animal Science Reporter.
